Got travel? I guess more people like to travel then the people who do not. You got to have time, money, energy, in order to fulfill you travel dream. I admire those who can give up a lot of things and spends let say 6 months or a year time to travel around. Of course it will be great to travel on a lavish budget, but it will be good to travel on budget as well.  However, the most important factor is that time is a scarcity. You don't have time to experience to travel around place you have never been in your life time. The place by the tourist guide may be good, but your experience to visit those "unknown" is more precious.

The first ever flying experience for me was to Taiwan. The trip was a gift from father for my primary school graduation.

The longest "travel" period was the time in Hawaii where I was actually studying at Hilo, Big Island, where Hawaii Volcano located.  Maybe it is should not count as travel. It is mere leaving home for a while. My home is the place I stayed for over 30 years.

I guess my ever first trip to leave Hong Kong was happen when I am an embryo. My mother might went to Macao to visit her family and sisters. Although I born in Hong Kong, many people think that I come from Macao. Anyhow I like Macao very much when I was young. No doubt that in Macao was where  no school for me. Macao was a numerous time destination for me already.

These are the Airlines which I have once traveled with. One of my collection is Airlines postcard. Frankly I did not have a lot. In case you have one and you are kind enough, do send me a copy of it! These days many airlines are on the blink of bankrupt, and I wonder who will be the next one.

Check out my page at face book and you will find out where I have been..

94 Jan, I was traveling to Honolulu via Tokyo Narita by Northwest. I was wrongly boarded a NWA flight to Chicago which used the same gate bound for Honolulu. I was just arrived at the gate a bit early. Right before the gate was close, somebody came to my seat and take me out from the flight to Chicago. If not, I will went to Chicago which weather should be snowing, while Honolulu was still a surfing season.

The shortest trip I ever take was from Honolulu to Molokai for 25 minutes on a DeHavilland Dash-8 on Island Air. It is a bit scarily on such a small plane.

Here are places I have been.

My first ever friend in China was met in Beijing during my visit. She was the staff of the hotel I stayed for 15 days. Amazing that we still keep contacts and she is married and now with a kid of six years old. She is the only friend in China out of the 1.3 billion people. Colleagues in China did not count as friends, they are colleague.

Maybe UA will be gone soon.

The longest road trip I drove was 4000 miles from San Francisco - Sacramento - Reno - Salt Lake City - St. George - Grand Canyon - Las Vegas - LA - Hollywood - San Francisco. I did like to drive to more place, but time is always the biggest obstacle. China maybe a new opportunity for me, but I need plenty of time for this. Reading a map to find you way out when driving is fun. You get lost, you turning around, nearly running out of gas on a highway, or leaving your car key inside the locked care, were all memorable.

American West will be gone soon and merge with US Air.

Swiss broke two month after I flied on it. It is now a new Swiss.

Canada's was the ever first long trip for me. Although I was young by that time, direct flights made me sick. You really have nothing to do but to sit in the seat for over 12 hours. Reading, watch movie, while you are hurting your backbone. Tranquilly view through out the number 1 way from Vancouver to Calgary, and to Edmonton was impressing. The cold clear sky at Lake Louie made me a awesome picture.

Both of them broke before.

Greyhound is familiar to American, but for people living in Asia it may unheard of. I took the bus from Hollywood and down to San Diego and found the Sea World. Years later I found Hong Kong Ocean has the tower which I saw long ago at San Diego. Years later I learn that one of my cousin was working there.

Philippines has changed hand couple times already. Broke!

Possibly many people did not like walking these days, but I do like walking around to seek for small adventure. Of course it hurt your foot and leg somehow. I was so "stupid" to walk from Hollywood in one day to a place next to the Rose Bowl which was one of the largest stadium in the State. My grand aunt say I am a fool when I finally reach her house on the hill side close to rose blow. I went out in early morning to the Sunset Boulevard and return 12 hours later. I walked along for 10 hours going through down town LA and place unknown to me.

I have been to Taiwan in early 80s, mid 90s and after the millennium. Street sceneries did not change much. The SYS and the CKS hall are the same as before, but a lot of modernization compare in 80s and 90s, the Taipei 101 and the MRT are not in place in 80s.  The last time I went to Taiwan had allowed me to buy a few thousand buck of books. Books and book store are lovely in Taiwan.

Aberdeen is in Scotland, and I have traveled to this beauty city for the school I am attending. When the BMI flight landed at London from Aberdeen, I found Lord David Wilson was sitting to me. I "stare" at him for seconds and awkward asked "are you David?", and of course he replied "Yes, I am Wilson". I chit chatted a bit, and it should be my honor to talk to him. I never have a chance to meet him and talk when he was the governor. This trip to Aberdeen was great and impressive for me.

Travel can turn into a real bad experience when flights delay. It is even worse when both flights in a round trip delay. You are frustrated without compensation. Those Airlines in China are always delays with or without reasonable reasons. What the hell is that for such a customer services. It is obvious that Chinese Airlines services are much below the international aviation services standard. The hardware is in average, but the "software" are years behind.

There are many story to tell and I will come up with more in coming months and years.

The budget airlines' existence have provided more chance for fly. It is convenient and avoid the travel agent. I can book it online and everything is under control, and I got points for my credit cards as well.
